Presentation of 25hrs in Barcelona. |
| |
| After almost two years of work 25hrs was presented to
the public for the first time in Barcelona. |
 |
| |
The show took place in a sport facility in the city
centre. Owing to its characteristics, the refurbishment of the premises
required specific solutions basically pointing to darkening the
site to enhance the conditions of projection. |
| |
 |
For the technical equipment we
book two Sanyo projectors of 10000 Lumens, one to use for the actual
projection and the other as a back-up. The excellent cooperation
of Imatge Professional meant
that both projectors were used at the same time creating an exceptional
quality of image and light. |

 |
The design of the space for the event was prepared around the
actual screen. This was located in the corner of the main room
lightly focused toward the centre of the space and with a few
degrees of inclination towards the floor. This permitted a greater
use of space at the same time focusing the vision of the projection
from all angles. A certain number of sofas, armchairs and chairs
were placed all around. 200 sq. metres of carpet were placed in
the few front rows.
A bar restaurant service offered by Sésamo
and coffee offered by Illy
Caffe were available supplying food and beverages to the guests.
Big placards with the 25hrs logos were advertising the event on
the front of the building. |

25hrs collected a large interest from the media.
We prepared a large dossier with all the information about the show
and the still images of many of the videos. A promotional tape was
also edited for television with fragments of various works. The
result of these was a large number of articles and reviews in the
newspapers and magazines, interviews with the different radio stations
and the showing of material from 25hrs in the news and cultural
programmes in different television stations. It may be highlighted
the articles appeared in the País de las Tentaciones (full
page), B-Guided (full page), Culturas, the supplement from the Vanguardia
(the front page and full page), among others. On the radio, the
interviews on Radio 4 and com.Radio, and on television, a report
in the news on TV3 and a report with an interview in CNN+. |

On Friday at 18.30hrs the sports
centre in the Raval opened its doors to the public. The projection
of the film, The Man with the Movie Camara, by Digza Vertov which
began at 19.00hrs introduced the show. At that moment some 300 people
were seated and ready to watch the programme. At 20.10hrs as was
previously programmed, the first video of 25hrs appeared on screen.
We calculate that around 600 people attend to the
show at some point. The audience’s reply to the projections
was enthusiastic, applauding many of the pieces shown on screen.

One of the major satisfactions
for the TVAF teams was the presence of participating artists. Fifty
artists, a 6th of all participants, went to the sports centre to
be present at the show. Out of this group, more than half had come
from other countries. Artists and collaborators arrived from Canada,
Europe, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Belgium...apart
from other Spanish cities, ready and willing to enjoy this unique
event. |
| |
Apart from obtaining lodgings for all of them, the
TVAF prepared a Welcome package which included a catalogue, the
programme, a city map and a personal invitation to the cocktail
which the organisation had offered the Sunday after the show.
First impressions we received from the artists were of gratitude
for the treatment received, for including them in the programme
and for the opportunity to see so much interesting material. |

The international character and
exhaustive compilation of the recent history of video art included
in 25hrs favours the touring of the show. Since our website began
running and from then on, with the launch of the open call, we have
been requested to supply complementary information to various organisations
and we are at the moment in conversations to show 25hrs in several
places around the world.
25hrs is a project by TheVideoArtFoundation
in collaboration with UNXposed. |
